I thought the design showcase went extremely well and was very pleased with the feedback that I received. Personally I feel as though my site is a very necessary component in the understanding of ADHD, but I was not sure how the general public would react to it. The result was a lot of very deep conversations for about…the entire showcase which I did not mind because I was then presented with the opportunity to use words like comorbid :).
I also think it worked out well that Mike and I were next to each other since both of our products had the same target audience: those with ADHD. Our products complemented each other very well because his was a natural product ADHD kit and mine was a website…perhaps some partnership could be worked out in the near future? Hmmm.
I also really enjoyed checking out my colleagues’ products. It was great to see all the hard work that went into the showcase on the students’ part as well as the faculty! Everyone worked so hard and it was very evident.
If I were to change one thing about the showcase, I would maybe provide brochures at the door to the showcase. I think a lot of the people that walked in were quite overwhelmed by the amount of products that were in the room and a small map or guide with a blurb about each product might have been helpful. This could be particularly beneficial for investors who would then be able to read about the products beforehand.
All in all, I had a great time! A quick celebratory drink at Mo’s made it even better :) I plan on pursuing Rise Above after this class is over and am very glad I had this experience!
Amazing little gadget for someone with ADHD. I want it NOW.
A great credible news source for many diseases and disorders, one of which is ADHD. I got a lot of my market research stats and information from this site.
More market research on the ADHD drug market which I am using as a the model for my own market audience.
Possible Business Partner? If Rise Above is successful, partnering with a drug company could potentially be a successful business move. Rise Above focuses on ethical practice and honesty which would be a great image for a company like Shire to be associated with especially with the controversy of drugs and their long term effects (particularly in children). The benefits would obviously be mutual, as in a partnership Shire would hypothetically fund all things Rise Above.
Shire Remains the Unchallenged Leader of the ADHD Market. This report identifies Shire Pharmaceuticals Group Ltd. as the unchallenged leader of the ADHD market with four drugs for ADHD (Vyvanse, Intuniv, Daytrana, Adderall). Adding to this, a recent deal (February 2009) for the European marketing of UCB’s Equasym will make Shire a robust player in the ADHD market. Shire is followed by Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals (Concerta) and Eli Lilly (Strattera). Together, these companies accounted for 80% of the global ADHD market in 2008.
Some interesting statistics I’ve found relating the impact of ADHD medications within drug markets.

Some Market Research I’m doing for my business plan.
A recent report from Knowledge Networks revealed that 66% of ALL time spent on the Internet is also spent using another medium. Their analysis showed that for two out of every three minutes consumers (ages 13 to 64) spend with the Internet, they are also using at least one other medium at the same time.
This is a great article that I stumbled upon while doing market research of ADHD. It’s a blog posting written by a web developer with ADHD addressing the concept of ADHD being something employers should try to avoid… Once again…someone looking for an outlet to speak out about ADHD :)
This video stars Megan Giersh and is a promotional branding video that I created for Rise Above. Hoping to create a series out of these eventually you know…in all the spare free time I have lying around :)
Display board for the Design Entrepreneur Showcase featuring my logo, logo applied to my site and final infographic timeline for ADHD. Ohh baby.
